Not every rose is suited for every climate or soil. However, that is how they were marketed for decades. No wonder people thought roses needed a lot of work. If a rose is happy with your climate, your soil and your care, it grows like a weed. It's the roses that don't meet those requirements that are the divas in the wrong garden ..

I never under plant my roses either because I don't want to mess with the feeder roots. Oh, I have some short growing early blooming bulbs, but, as you know, I do have a thing about roots ..
