Thank you for your words of help all.. Baja_Costero we have an indoor nursery for our plants until it is warm enough to put them outside. My Uncle when he was alive had several cacti that he grew in his backyard and when it rained he put large covers on them. I have grown succulents before with no problem. Just looking for some seeds again so I can enjoy the beauty of these plants once more. Thanks for your advice about getting a prickly pear cutting but I am in Canada and you can't send live plants from outside of Canada or receive them. Just seeds. Hurray!
