There are so many thousands of iris, the only way you can ever be close to making an ID is to grow a suspected ID rhizome side by side. IDing thru photos rarely works. nodding
Since it's so old, maybe try posting it in the Iris Forum, we have a Historic thread there and lots of collectors of oldies, they love a good mystery! They may come up with a possibility.
