You do not need to figure out a trademark name. Not that many plants are trademarked. Also it's never a good idea to try to guess at a cultivar name solely based on photos. This is why we have generic entries for most genus. (for instance, some common genus; iris, rosa, hemerocallis, lilium etc.) So if your plant tag does not have a cultivar name, please don't guess at it.
If you don't know what the genus is, you can usually search by just the common name and often come up with the correct one. Or just post into the
Plant ID Forum and there are a number of members who love to help out in that forum.
