I remember when the the bright blue Phalaenopsis (Moth Orchid) and then a bright purple began appearing on the market ... everyone was oohing and aahing and buying them like crazy. A non-gardening acquaintance gave me a blue one about four years ago and I couldn't bring myself to tell her that subsequent blooms would be white.
