It's likely that the visible stem will just wither away for the season, but the underground bulb will be just fine. You won't see anything for the rest of this season, but next spring a new sprout will come up, happy as can be. So make sure you don't damage the bulb by accidentally digging it up (mark it well) and don't let the pouch do it either. Smiling I would grow some annual flowers there for this year, so the area doesn't look bare.
