I was tossing up between Ranunculus acris and Geranium carolinianum. This picture of R. acris shows similar hairs on the leaves to the ID plant. But I thought the emerging flower buds looked more like the geranium (which does seem to have some hairs). Still sitting on the fence though. I assume the ID plant is believed to be a weed?
