Nice trees. The variegated leaves are growing on me too. I also like the fuzzy grayish leaves with the red flowers. I just have only seen pic of them.
Your reducing water to the seedlings sounds interesting, but I killed so many by not giving them enough water. Tiny seedlings really seem to like water. Yours are a little older so may be the caudex will thicken. Good luck.
