Not the wrong zone, Gita. I had a Persimmon tree at my last house it it would bear fruit every year... lots of fruit. And I'm fairly certain there was not another Persimmon tree in the area for many miles.
The leaves on that tree are similar to the ones on the Persimmon tree I had but not an exact match. I'm not positive but I do not think that's what you have there.
