Here they sell tobacco, ground up, to mulch with and they say it keeps all the bugs away. I haven't tried it but it is everywhere. I generally use a systemic for sucking insects, of which there are many around here. I will inspect the plant though and make sure I don't see any. I also have plenty of coffee grounds so I could maybe mix that with the tobacco and the plant could become a real junkie - coffee and cigs.
