One can not usually determine if a seed is viable just by looking at it. You should give the seeds a gentle squeeze. If they are firm, they should be viable. If they collapse or feel soft and spongy, they are not good.

Daylily seeds shouldn't be frozen. They keep quite nicely with just refrigeration.

Since I live on the coast of Louisiana, I can't advise you as to the proper planting time for your area, but you can keep your seeds refrigerated until next spring if you need to.
