Depends on what you mean by "resistant", and what you want the rose of sharon to look like.

In my area... deer love rose of sharon, but that doesn't have to be a bad thing...
Rose of sharon are such aggressive growers... that a little regular pruning by the deer may result in a pleasing shrubbery.

And... some areas have worse deer populations than others.
