Our property was at one time an avocado grove, but like many of the trees here, was hit hard by root rot. We took out all of the mostly dead trees (lots of firewood) and we have two left. This one bears and right now looks the healthiest it has in years, I think due to last winter's rains. This is a huge old tree, way past 30 years old and bears in alternate years. Yeah, looking at the avos we'll have this year, I do feel lucky.
I could be wrong...
