It might be that the thought is that the seeds are fresher at the end of summer and at the start of fall. Or it might be that some of us want to start germination in the fall to have the seedling grow through the winter to be planted in the ground in the spring. Bill Maryott told me that there is no reason to wait until spring to germinate seeds. A lot of time would be wasted.

Or it might be that we just want to have the fun of bidding!
