Fleur, I don't know where you are, but that looks like some kind of Fritillary to me. I only get two kinds down here in Florida, but there are many more up north, and lots of them look very similar. It's definitely not a Skipper, though. Of that I am sure.
Sue has a good suggestion about submitting to an expert. If you are in North America, I use BAMONA (Butterflies and Moths of North America). You have to create an account, but it's pretty simple.
