Marica, it's not the battery that is causing the heat...I changed it about 2 months ago. The phone is about 4 years old. And it sits on a plastic-coated grid shelving unit so gets ventilation.
I had unplugged it from the electrical power source after it reached 100% charge less than an hour ago and it has cooled down to normal now.
