Ken, mine is adding growth now and it always blooms around Christmas for me. Perhaps you are just impatient?
This plant can take a good deal of sun, I have never seen it burn. It gets straight morning sun in the cage, and when I move it inside in the Fall, I grow it in a bright spot!
