I'm not impressed with the jiffy pots, either. Those are the mesh ones, but I think they do constrain the roots too much despite my ripping out the bottom. Nonetheless, I thought it was worth a shot on a few of them...not doing it again, though!!
I'm watering every other day, but now I'm going to add the fertilizer once a week.
