Tap the little box with an arrow and that brings up the menu then select Request Desktop Site. The same icon you'd use for bookmarks, cut and paste etc. It's part of the iPhone navigation rather than this site although we used to have the option in NGA until the change. I didn't find requesting desktop worked as well with the iPod (same ios as iPhone) as it does on my Android phone though.
