Hi, Sharlene. As it happens, today is National Nut Day, so our Rose of the Day is Rosa roxburghii, a species rose commonly called the Chestnut Rose.
I comb through a sizable set of calendars in search of holidays, and not one of them mentioned Miss American Rose Day, which I could have worked with. The big problem is that there are many days I simply can't work with. Which rose would be reminiscent of suspenders, for instance? After National Liqueur Day on the 16th, I had to miss 6 days because they were National Dictionary Day, National Mulligan Day, Hagfish Day, and several others that were just impossible to match up with rose photos. Tomorrow, incidentally, is National Mole Day, iPod Day, and National TV Talk Show Host Day. What do I do with those?
