I root things in various ways, but water is the easiest if I don't really want to bother with something. Depends on what it is I'm rooting and how many. Even with the Anthony Parker salvias, I rooted 300 of those in water. Years ago I rooted fig cuttings by the advised method...cuttings in winter, keep them in fridge until...yada, yada......the last two I tried 4-5 weeks ago I just stuck in water and they did fine...lol..
I could be wrong...
