They absolutely need to bring back marshes and swamps. They are a natural filtering system. I cheer for every man made pond I see these days. It's not much, but better than nothing.

That would be a good Midwest saying about going right back in!

You know you're from the Midwest when you have heated water dishes for the outdoor animals and break the ice in the birdbaths you left out to refill with warmish water, for the birds.
