On our way north for a week of spending time with one set of my grandchildren, we stopped at Jim Hawk's place to see his garden in person. Lots of everything there. There I swiped three cuttings from one of his hibiscus bushes. We wrapped them in moist paper towels and off I went towards my son's rented beach house near Pawley's Island in SC. See: http://www.debordieu.com/

First I left them in the car for a couple days but they seemed to be OK after I found them and put them into a glass of water, then I forgot to take them with me for our return trip and I called my son to mail them to me. Those poor little cuttings are going through hell and I have no idea if they will survive the trauma.

We shall see if my son even remembers to mail them next week. If I do get them, I'll need a name Jim. :-)

PS My wife is still talking about his house. What an immaculate and pretty place.
