Desert Denial (Marie): The Christmas cactus that Alan I have been talking about is the original variety Schlumbergera x buckleyi. It does much better in AZ than all the new hybrids. I keep it in the house in summer and as soon as the nights start to cool in Sept. I put it out on my patio. It does just fine here with that treatment and blooms too. I have never been able to keep the hybrids varieties more than a year or two. Here is a picture of the variety I am talking about (notice the leaves are curved not pointy like the hybrids):
