I purchased American Revolution at a plant show in 2015 and I have been really happy with it. Last year was a dumb-luck sort of year...rabbits or deer ate one of the scapes and I accidentally bumped into and broke the other scape, so I don't have any reliable hybridizing information from this plant.

Here's what I can say, though:
* It has a gorgeous, red-black bloom that rarely, if ever, bleaches out in the sun.
*It seems to have very reliable form and seems to always open well for me.
* It WILL set pods pretty readily (I don't have stats due to the unfortunate mishaps last year).

I don't know how I don't have pictures of this pretty plant already in the database, but I'll try to remember to come back and post one. It really is a pretty plant. For awhile, I had it planted right next to Jungle Beauty (another near-black) and it was neat to see the red undertones in this one compared to the purple undertones in the Jungle Beauty. American Revolution is really a gorgeous plant and I do recommend it to gardeners looking for some rich, deep colored flowers in their yard.
