Richard F. Dufresne says:

Salvia sagittata:
Hardy in zone 9. This is a drought tolerant plant.

S. patens"
"Hardy in zone 9. Benefits from Mediterranean climate. Keep cool,
dryish, and in sun during winter dormancy in the greenhouse."
Also: "Broken sunlight or light shade is best."

I see USDA Zone 9 listed as average annual minimum temp 20-30 degrees F, but of course then half of all years should go lower than that!

Also, "sudden cool" after steady warm weather can be worse for plants than "cold" that was reached gradually after a week or two of "cool".
