What's "common" to you is likely "most wanted" for somebody else, and names are less important than "pretty!" They aren't really swaps as much as plant-sharing parties...

I wrote a couple of articles about seed and plant swaps when the Mid-Atlantic group was still on Dave's Garden (well, there's still a forum there, but the activity has moved here). They may give you an idea of the "flavor" of our events! We had our TENTH annual seed swap in Feb.. Smiling
