Wow, that was some wind................their are 8 guys here now with a cherry picker, two trucks, a kabota, a shredder and a flat bed cutting down 6 big locust that were to be cut down before the storm, but it did not happen. Now they are all damaged and one was completely down. Fell between two barns and did not even scratch it. The big top was way out in the tree field and it broke about four feet off the ground and fell away from all the buildings. There is a God!
What a mess. We were out of TV, Electric, Internet and phone for 19 hours and there are still over 300,000 people still out. We are so lucky to be near the Joint Bases because the Military gets top treatment of course and we are on the lines with them. We are about a mile down the road from them.
Our poor neighbor has about 15 acres of tomatoes that are just rotting on the vine, the trucks can not get into the field to pick up baskets and the men are picking them green and half ripe just to get some money back. They have ugly marks on them, how nhe expects to sell them is beyond me. He should just plow them under and take a loss on taxes. Bad PR for his veggies trying to sell them this way. Some people.
Thanks for thinking of me. I will see you all later. There is so much to do here just now I must go. My kids both got called in to work, my daughter had to find a place for 200 racehorses the day of the storm, they evacuated the racetrack due to flooding, now there are still so many roads closed because the storm took a northerly path and hit people who were not as prepared as we were being so close to the ocean, and those poor souls are out of electric and trees are down and houses are flooded up to the second floor from some of the creeks and streams. Their places must be a mess. We were so lucky this time. Gotta go. JB
