How I grow an Austrian Copper - put in ground.

That's about it. Mine was planted 100% wrong.. the bud union is about 2" above the ground, gets about 50% shade, and STILL it's grown about 5' since I put it in the ground 3 years ago. I love it.. I just wish that it wasn't a one-trick pony! The blackspot doesn't bother it to the point that it's nude of leaves, I water it about 1/2 less than my other roses, it's in the crappiest soil (almost pure rock) and it still is so dependable when it comes to blooming!

I'm not digging them up & tossing them.. I just know that they're not going to survive. If I have ANY of RUs roses survive my winter, it's going to be a shock & a half. They were all extremely thin-caned and about a 3rd of them croaked from the heat, even though I watered every 4th day. Only RU rose that has done awesome was Orange Velvet that I got a few years ago, but that cane was much thicker than these 1/2" babies.

This was my 2nd time ordering from Palatine. I ordered 4 2 years ago and lost 2.. 1 from my extreme negligence, 1 from the weather (I lost Laguna Freelander & Stephens Big Purple). This year, I received my 5 and all of them will be just fine for the winter. I absolutely love Palatine's roses. I'm expecting the roses I got from Edmunds & GVR to survive the winter as well, mainly because they were bigger canes, not little microsquirts of plants. Even the "2 year old" roses I got from RU with my last order were still thinner than a cigarette.
Roses are one of my passions! Just opened, my Etsy shop (to fund my rose hobby)! http://www.etsy.com/shop/Tweet...
