Hi! Welcome! So nice that you took the time to visit! May today and tomorrow contain some extra special surprises for you!

Marigold Seeds! I am being over run with Marigold seeds one of my best years. I am saving to also share with all of you who would like some. How do I do It? Maybe some tips that make is easier for someone. First, I go after the dried prime blooms. I have a cup full here. Although you see the color yellow these dried on the stalk. I put them in a cup and labeled them. Washing out used cups, writing on them with a sharpie, and stack them inside each other when you do not have a lot of seeds. This works too if you need to save seeds multiple times in a season. I save all the big blooms now, July and August flowers can be pitiful, but I can get a fall flush of big ones again.

I have garden scissors and I take a couple of paper towels and pour 91% rubbing alcohol in a baggie with them for wiping the blades. Sometimes you cut something funky and do not want to spread it.

Good Marigold seed looks like this. Nice black end. Unviable seed looks like this.

You can get a mixture in the bloom like the one on the left. Just toss all of those. Best seeds make the best plants.

Sometimes I go out and all the blooms are dried up and then who are they? Shrug! I just make a bag that says mix, good flowers and seed. Someone just might have an area they want to try to keep weeds down, and they are not particular. But also realize that if you open pollinate which I do, any seed could be any variety that I grow. With Zinnias that has been a good thing. I have had some pretty ones that did not have good disease resistance. I grew Benary's with them and the next year they had better disease resistance.

Usually with zinnias and marigolds I store them intact if possible so the seeds do not get broken. For slightly smaller seeds, stock (Matthiola) once they are dried I put them in baby food containers..
Great to label or write on and they stack. For small seeds like snaps and petunias I have been working on a special tutorial for you that I need to wrap up.

If you have any special seed saving tips feel free to share! Hurray!

Sun has been out it might be hard to see but it is getting red again.

And because I like delicious, fast and easy. Everyone could use more time for garden work. Many years ago before, Julie and Julia, my daughter and I would get Everyday Foods magazine. We were actually cooking most of the recipes. In case we were in a rut or just needed to experiment, or do something we have never done before, it worked. So sad when Martha Stewart discontinued it.
I would make the recipe exactly like they said. There is a reason for that, but that is another time. If you are a pea soup lover-- ham bone, celery, garlic, onions, potatoes and carrots! Hurray! yum.
You will like this interesting recipe for summertime. So fast and light with the sandwich it is great. I am not putting the recipe here just a picture ( in real life it is a beautiful bright green). For copyright reasons you can find the recipe for free at Martha Stewart.
It is called Green Pea Soup with White Cheddar Scallion Panini!

I do advocate never altering a recipe until after you make it. I have some small changes that you could do, but do not need to be done. Because green onions are in season you can use them instead, just need more of them because they are smaller than scallions. Any bakery bread will do, Sourdough is in the picture and Aldi had white cheddar deli slices instead of grating white cheddar. It was as if we went to a deli for lunch. One quick safety note, lesson learned, when blending hot mixtures do so in small batches in a blender. If you have a Vitamix or Ninja for hot liquids, that is different, always better to blend small batches with hot liquids. Thumbs up
I also have no association to anyone mentioned above.
(Except my daughter nodding )

You are important and wonderful!
May God Bless You and keep You all the days of your life!
