Cindi: The corners are indeed curved, making the ceilings appear to be higher than they really are. They're only 8' 6".

Being that this was built when it was, there are only 2 electrical outlets per room. They hadn't invented refrigerators then, either. (Yes, I have a fridge !)
The walls are really thick plaster with that "knock down" texture. This place survived the huge earthquake here, unscathed, in 1933...and all the rest that followed it !
