Leslie, although I don't want to completely rule out that Eleanor was blue from cold, it could be worth checking if your camera allows you to manually set the white balance. If so, try to set it on "cloudy" or "shade" when you photograph in the shade. This will effectively warm up the colors and remove any blue cast from your images. If your camera allows it, a custom white balance may be even more accurate.
