Probably some do with a combination of genetics, culture and location (stretching for light). I think you will probably need to recall some of the places you might have sourced this lily from then we can take it from there. I do have old catalogs from B&D and Lily Garden going back 10+ years.

My first thought was buggy's Red Bell but turns out it is short at 2-3 ft. Stigma also the wrong color. I always include the color of the stigma when doing comparisons (providing it isn't covered with pollen!).
