They are Rudbeckia Herbstonee that I got mail order several years ago. They come back every year but my neighbor and I have both tried growing them from seed (that there is plenty of) without success. They provide nice foliage before blooming and last right into fall (a few are still yellow). Here's the May, June, July, August progression:

Oh! The yellow in the May photo is daffs, the Rudbeckia don't start blooming until about mid July.
