Boy I just saw this thread. I am sitting here literally mouthwatering..... I need to get me one of those Euphorbia cylindrifolia, SOOOOO cool. But I too would probably have left near broke!
I have a wonderful blood-red Dyckia sitting on my desk here, sadly it belongs to the Botanical Garden but - it may have pups....

I think the one with the serrated edges that tempted you might possibly be a Pandanus, the leaves appear to be growing in the corkscrew pattern typical of this genus.
The third picture under 'major thorns' in your last post appear to be Pachypodium lamerei, those are actually pretty easy from seed. I love them and have about 10 but beware, they get big!
I wish there was a show like that here! We were talking with friends yesterday about the possibility of taking a trip to Merida in the future.... maybe it can coincide with this plant show, is it held regularly?
