I thought those serrated edge plants might be pandanus. I have several variegated pandanus on my roof and I hesitated because I really don't need any more, they get HUGE. There are some next to the immigration office that are as tall as that 2 story colonial building (colonial means it has 18' to 20' ceilings in each floor). These seemed a little different, more of a twist.

Please let me know if you and your friends take a trip to Merida, I will be happy to meet you for dinner and can show you some of the botanical gardens. CICY also sponsers a garden and the succulent club which has its judged show every November, the meetings are monthly on the last Thursday of the month. November coincides with some wonderful weather here, days are in the 80s and nights in the 60s. Of course, Merida is central for visits to some of the finest Mayan sites, Chichen Itza and Uxmal are day trips along with many other smaller sites. The colonial culture is wonderful, it is a very safe city, friendly and tropical.

The sale at the show was not huge but a lot of the people with ribbons on plants inside were selling small starts outside. I am trying to keep my collection under control or at least get everything else potted and set someplace more or less permanent before I buy more. Probably hopeless but I'm trying.
A day without sunshine is like, you know, night.
