Nora, I went on the hunt for the post when Dave added that link feature and finally found it. Here is Dave's post:

You can now add your own custom links to the floating blue menu bar. Here is how to do it:

Go to your profile (linked from the menubar).

Then click on "Change your site preferences"

Then at the bottom, click on "Manage your custom menubar"

Then just follow the screen's instructions.

You can add links to anywhere you want and those links will appear in the menu bar of every page on the site. It only affects your own menu bar and nobody else can see your links. You can link to private stuff and you can even link to other websites. But remember, nobody else sees it so this is just a convenience thing for you.

I'm using it to add special links to special admin-only areas. Moderators can use it to make special links directly to their own database areas.

You might use it to make a custom link that goes directly to the Daylilies database, or the Roses forum, or what-have-you.

Experiment and have fun. Remember that if you add too many links, the menubar will get full and then it'll go to the next link and the format will break terribly. So try to keep the names as short as possible.
