I really wish that more hybridizers' photos looked like the actual garden blooms, and now that I have a little more experience I can tell that when a bloom glows bright pink or blue the color has been greatly enhanced. I certainly don't mind if the color is enhanced to make the picture look more like the true color(s) of the flowers, as I have trouble myself with pictures lightening up so much that they don't acccurately reflect the true colors, and of course pictures taken in shade make the colors look different than those taken in sunlight. But the one that I really learned from was TALLADEGA, which I know I've mentioned before. I was inexperienced enough that when I saw the hybridizer's picture I actually believed it would be that fire engine red color. Here's what the flower looked like in my garden:
And if anyone wants to see the hybridizer's picture please scroll down the left side of the website and select TALLADEGA to see it. What a difference! I was so terribly disappointed that I couldn't even see that the real TALLADEGA is quite pretty on its own -- just not really bright red! And I've now learned to carefully read the description, because it did say it was a shade of rose red. I just didn't believe someone would post a picture that was that far off! Live and learn!
