Absolutely agree with you Michele.

I tend to baby and fret over the parents that I have purchased until they show me they are happy here.

But the seedlings, not so much.

I do give them a fighting chance by nuking the potting soil in microwave until it is steaming.
No fungus gnats with nuking, plus perhaps kills some bacteria and fungus.

The seeds get 2 days of drying in air conditioned room, then refrigerated in a small plastic bag
with 10% hydrogen peroxide and distilled water. They begin to sprout in frig within a month or two
and all the seeds are planted from each bag that has any sprouted. The seedlings emerge within
a week, and grow quickly.

I do not use grow lights, they are placed in front of south facing windows, watered when dry, fertilized
a bit, then they are on their own. When planted in garden, they are fertilized once, then they have to
make it on their own with occasional watering when dry.

I added the above just in case someone new might want the info. Everyone has their own methods with
what they have found to work best for them; those who have been doing this for awhile.
