Ron, With March here already, and the day length increasing, I don't think that you need to put your pot in the dark for 8 weeks. The center bulbs may be ready to put up new leaves. On Jan 22nd, I posted a photo of my bulbs going dormant, and I removed the remaining leaves. My bulbs have put up new leaves, which are already 10 cm tall. The dormancy was only about 3 weeks. In Israel, you may also have the same situation as we have in Florida. If the Amaryllis go dormant, it is an extremely short dormancy. It this was my pot, I would give it a good watering, and put it in the sun. I bet you will have new leaves by the end of March if not before.
