I have used epsom salts but no longer am going to use it. A local master gardener who writes for our local newspaper had an interesting article about epsom salts. He said in the article that the area I live in has ample magnesium in the soil and that the use of epsom salts could actually hinder plant growth and performance if more is added. I have experienced that so I am inclined to think that I have too much in my soil and probably will just use milorganite or a slow release fertilizer this summer.
