I agree I tried watering everyday when the pips appear until they leaf out and they actually swell like a balloon and get huge. A good friend of mine who use to order the perennials for a local nursery told me if I wanted my huge hosta to get huge I should stop dividing them and to never divide them the first year. Last year was a very rainy season for us. I really think now that I stopped dividing along with the much needed water and fertilizer it did the trick. I had the best hosta ever last year.
