Paul,
Thanks for the pictures. Very nice to look at during these during cold wet days. (which is better than snow).
I see you made one mistake just like I did. Most of your hosta look to be a few years old at most. I see different size mixed with dwarfs. Some of those dwarfs will get smothered out, as well as a lot of the perennials you got growing with them. But that will not be for a few more years.
My hosta 'Liberty' just refuses to grow for me. I guess everyone get a hosta that misbehaves for them. I had it for 5 years and looks like I just bought it yesterday. Maybe now has 3 stocks but never over 6 - 8 inches high. I don't fertilizer my hostas, never thought to do so. I do feed them compost tea at times. I give them all I could when I first plant them and most take off like weeds. You are right about them loving water.
Paul on your pictures. I use 'Paint' which came with 'Windows' and I post my picture in there first and I can reduce the size for pasting in here as well as print the names on the picture for all the plants inside. I also keep it for future record keeping. Like also date it. Helps when you view them years from now.
