Betty, this is the recipe I used for the pie.

1/2 an unbaked pie crust recipe, enough for a deep pie dish

Filling
6 Granny Smith apples
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1/4 cup all-purpose flour
1 tsp teaspoon ground cinnamon, more or less to taste
2 tablespoon lemon juice, I add the lemon juice after cutting up the first couple of apples in a bowl, then stir as I add more so that they don't turn brown. I mixed the flour, cinnamon and sugar then stir into the apples and fill the pastry lined dish

Topping
1/2 cup unsalted or salted butter, whichever you use, I like salted, softened
1 cup all-purpose flour
2/3cup packed brown sugar
1 tsp cinnamon, optional

1tablespoon granulated sugar with 1/2 tsp cinnamon to sprinkle on top of the crumb topping.

In medium bowl, use pastry blender or fingers to mix butter, 1 cup flour and the brown sugar & cinnamon until a crumb forms. Sprinkle evenly over top of pie. Sprinkle 1 tablespoon granulated sugar on top.

Bake 400 degree oven for 10 minutes, reduce to 350 for 45 to 55 minutes or until pie crust and crumb topping are deep golden brown and filling begins to bubble. Keep an eye on the topping if it starts to get too brown reduce the heat a little.
