Those growing up from the pot are baby plants, Charleen, and are removed as described in the article. Apparently, your Orthophytum also produces babies from the bloom stalk much like a pineapple does. They are also bromeliads. So they are all babies. Looks like you will have quite a few! Lucky you! Green Grin!
