Hi Deb. Just saw your question, I hate string trimmers too. A few years ago I bought one on Amazon by a company called Snow Joe. It is not high end and has plastic blades rather than the string. It works for me. Word of warning - take care with small rocks as the blades can throw one into your Pella French door and that is an expensive fix. Still getting over the shock of that one
