They do not hold on to their leaves for ever. Only the newest growth holds them all.
Slowly one and two year old growths drop their leaves. This leaf loss can be excelerated due to excessive heat or lack of water. But Dendrobium Phalaenopsis do not need all their leaves in order to flower, they need some sun light.
Orchid lecturer, teacher and judge. Retired Wildlife Biologist. Supervisor of a nature preserve up until I retired.
