Going to the Wis. Corn/Soy expo today........the state Pork Producers organization meets with that group also. today is the "Taste of Elegance" where 8 chefs prepare an original pork entree for judging. They also have to have samples for the reception later in the evening for attendees. SU and I are helpers with the "Taste" portion. Carrying plates to the judges and back to the chefs in the kitchen. This evening during the program there is a pie auction; I usually make a pie every year for that. This year I made caramel apple. Just a regular apple pie but sprinkled in about 3/4 of a bag of caramel bits. Monies from this pie auction go to the Scholarship fund that the state organization has. Then they also have a silent auction table; this is the Buell Gunderson scholarship fundraiser. Buell was a prominent hog raiser in his time. He died several years ago and his family started this up, I guess. I made Bacon Jam and put it in a nice decorative glass container. I'll put that in a basket, along with a dozen homemade rolls (which are in the oven as I type) and some crackers. I also have some for our table's group to nosh on, plus I'll have the judges taste it and see what they think. No judging, of course, just some input.

I guess we'll leave here after SU gets his beasts fed. We're staying overnight at the resort where this all will be held. We'll be rooming with another couple; he's the president of our local group. I am SO glad we won't be driving back home after the event. Did that way too many years when we had the cows. The kid milked at night, but we didn't ask him to take off work in the morning to do it, so we'd come home. Made for a LOOOOOONG day. Green Grin!

I guess SU will be living out a long-time wish...........we got tickets for the NASCAR race at Bristol, TN, in August. We'll go directly to Bristol after my milking job is done in NY. I am done Tuesday morning, and the truck race is Wed. night. We found a place that acts as a "go-between" for people in the Bristol area that rents rooms to people coming to the race and were able to get a room only 3 miles from the track. Should be an experience.

Oven timer just dinged.........rolls done. Scratch and sniff here.....................LOL
