I've grown my Neomarica gracilis in an east facing window and now a south facing window for years. I water it twice a week especially when the heat is on. In the summer it goes outside on a porch. I live in Massachusetts and I don't have a greenhouse. BTW, you don't need the latin name to google it, "walking iris" works fine. Here's a nice article.
