Remember, it will grow like a tree and will get as tall at minimum as the bar it grows up. Look at the photos of the back yard tree and enlarge the one on the right. I'm only 5' tall so I keep it trimmed underneath to my height which just happens to be the cross bar of the clothesline pole. There's enough space beneath it for me to sit on a bench. But if you wove it through the seat of a chair, it might take the chair with it as it grows upward.

Teasing, but you also have to remember that those first few weaves have to be pretty tight to hold it upright.
Try it, you never know.
